- Miles from home: 1 mile or less / Percentage of accidents: 23 percent
- Miles from home: 2 to 5 miles / Percentage of accidents: 29 percent
- Miles from home: 5 to 10 miles / Percentage of accidents: 17 percent
- Miles from home: 11 to 15 miles / Percentage of accidents: 8 percent
- Miles from home: 16 to 20 miles / Percentage of accidents: 6 percent
- Miles from home: More than 20 miles / Percentage of accidents: 17 percent

- Compared to 20 miles away, accidents were more than twice likely to happen to take place 1 mile from home.
- There were only 1 percent of reported accidents located 50 miles or more from home.
