Will red-right running be curbed with cameras?
Red-light running will and already is curbed with cameras. Here are the cities with the highest death rates due to red-light running crashes:
- Phoenix, Ariz.
- Memphis, Tenn.
- Mesa, Ariz.
- St. Petersburg, Fla.
- Birmingham, Ala.
- Dallas, Texas
- Albuquerque, N.M
- Louisville, Ky.
- Detroit, Mich.
If you don’t want to be one of the victims who get into crashes due to red-light running, here are some tips:
- Don’t run red lights
- Always be aware of the road
- Be alert
- Pay attention on the road
- Make sure that you get enough sleep and have the energy to drive
- If you are in a rush, don’t run red-lights; instead, try leaving earlier
- Instead of rushing, contact the person who you are going to meet and tell them that you will be late
- If you’ll be lucky, you’ll just get a traffic ticket instead of an injury
IIHS president Brian O’Neill says, “Red-light runners have no right to jeopardize others and then hide their violations behind privacy claims. Public officials should be concerned with protecting the innocent people form being killed rather than protecting the privacy of people who break the law.”
