Is using a cell phone safe while driving?

The number increased to 200 million people who use cell phones in the US. People became so dependent on cell phones that even when they are driving, they use their cell phones.

Unfortunately, while they are driving, they are supposed to be attentive on the road. But when they are talking on the cell phone, their most attention is focused on the conversation.

It is definitely unsafe to do that. It is unsafe not only for drivers but also for pedestrians because a driver talking on the cell can miss the pedestrian crossing the road, and because of that consequences may be disastrous.

It is clear that a driver gets distracted while talking on the cell. Both eating and talking with the passenger for a driver might be hazardous. The technology invented is known as hands-free sets for those who drive cars or any other vehicle. However, it is as dangerous as just holding the cell phone since the talking itself already imposes a major distraction.

According to survey, women ages from 16-24 use more cell phones while driving. Everybody should know that it is very hard sometimes to notice a motorbike for a car driver. That’s why those who drive a motorbike should pay twice attention on the road than even a car driver. And those motorists who use cell phones while driving put themselves at a greater risk.

The statistics of 2005 show that those who get distracted on wireless devices are more likely to lead to crashes. AAA concluded that those drivers, who use cell phones while driving, are less distracted than if they do other activities in the car.

According to statistics of 2004, those drivers who use hand-held cell phones can get into hazardous distraction. The risk of an accident does not change for those who use hands-free cell phones, or for those who use hand-held devices. Business companies put regulations for their workers not to use cell phones while driving to conduct business.

Those employers, who get into accidents during their working period, usually are liable for an accident caused by a driver using a cell phone. Those people who are driving have a hard time seeing pedestrians like small kids and old people. They should be very careful with that since recent studies show that too many accidents happen when small kids as pedestrians get killed by inattentive drivers.

It is hard to tell someone not to get out with cell phone since today in our society; cell phones play an important role. But they are supposed to be more like emergency contact devices. According to the international union, there are 40 countries who decided to put a law on prohibition of using cell phones while driving. And according to that law, drivers can lose insurance coverage if they had an accident because of their cell phones.
