How can I choose a safe outdoor adventure program for me and my family?
It is important to keep in mind the safety hazards that a simple outdoor activity can provide. There is an unlimited amount of bad things that might happen on your family’s vacation and being prepared for these things will prevent such events.
It is easy to come by bruises and scrapes, but what will you do during a serious accident?
Wouldn’t you have wished that you were more careful about where you went? You should ask yourself some questions and evaluate whether your family’s getaway is safe:
- Is this location safe for children?
- How many people participate in this program every year?
- Is there a published report of incidents that I can review? If so, what are they?
- How can I prevent accidents and injuries?
- Do I have a First Aid kit and do I know CPR?
- Do my children know what to do in case of emergencies?
- How much coverage does my policy provide?
- Do I really have the necessary coverage for my auto, health and life insurance?
- Will I be insured if an accident occurs?
- Will there be other people?
- Are there staff members?
- (If going to beach, lake, etc…) Is there a lifeguard?
- Are my children prepared and do they know how to fully perform these activities?
- Is my car (method of transportation) safe and ready to use?
- Did I do the necessary research on how to be safe while doing this activity?
- Do I have enough fuel and money?
