If you are over the age of 40, and if you are applying for life insurance coverage of equal to or more than $100,000 then you probably will have to take a medical exam. You will probably be asked to take this exam when applying for your policy. The older you are, the less life insurance you will be able to buy without a medical exam. In fact, the older you are the more likely you are to be sick with a certain type of medical condition. This is probably why you have to take this exam in the first place.
A typical medical exam will probably include urine tests, blood work and a basic physical check-up. However, if you are diagnosed with something on your medical exam, or if they simply tell you that your health isn't in the best condition that it can be, that means that you will probably have to pay a lot more for your life insurance than a person who has good health and who's in good condition. You'll probably pay more than a person who is just younger than you are.
If you suffer from a serious medical condition, there is no way to hide it. You probably shouldn't try to hide it, either. If you don't tell your insurance company about a certain medical condition that you have, keep in mind that insurance companies have access to an amazing amount of medical information through the Medical Information Bureau. If they do find out that you were lying to them, there's a good chance that if you do die because of the illness, the company may choose not to pay your death benefit.
