SUVs Are Performing Ineffectively

car insuranceObservably, researchers have realized that SUV's and pick-up trucks perform poorly during crash tests, and in life. At 20 mph, only a few sport utility vehicles protected dummies from injuries during a crash. Because SUV's been and probably still are first-choice cars for families, more and more people on SUVs are in risk of serious injuries during a collision. Only a mere six out of 44 SUVs earned top scores or their seat and head restraints.

That would probably seem shocking for most families who already own SUVs but didn't do all of the research that were necessary. Sadly, not one of the fifteen pick-up trucks earned acceptable scores for head restraints and seats. Perhaps it is the spacious seating in the SUV's that attract people most, or perhaps it is the manufacturer's advertising that often accentuate the tough and rugged image of pick-up trucks. As it turns out, these trucks aren't at all safe on the road - especially out in the wilderness, where the manufacturers usually advertise their trucks.

The insurance industry made a list of all the 2006 SUVs that rated poorly:
Acura MDX, Buick Rainier, GMC Envoy, Chrysler Pacifica, Honda Element, Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Liberty, BMW X3 and X5, Lexus GX 470 , Nissan Xterra, Mitsubishi Montero, Toyota 4runner ,Toyota Highlander, Chevrolet TrailBlazer, Isuzu Ascender, Ford Explorer, Mercury Mountaineer, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, Kia Sportage, Lexus RX 330, Cadillac SRX, Jeep Wrangler, Mitsubishi Endeavor, Suzuki Grand Vitara XL-7

However, not all is lost. Out of the 44 SUVs that were tested, there were still six models that received the top scores and rated well:
Volvo XC90, Land Rover LR3, Ford Freestyle, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Subaru Forester, and the Honda Pilot

There were other trucks and SUV's that were tested, but those were the highlights of the evaluations. If you are thinking about purchasing a new truck or SUV for your own, perhaps.
