One of the biggest problems in the United States at this time is the millions of people who do not have health insurance coverage. In fact, this number is quickly closing in on 50 million. With so many Americans living without health insurance, this is putting a major strain on the economy as well as the health care industry. There are many people with ideas on how to fix this problem. Some of them have the power to do so, whereas others are simply hoping for a change in the near future.
The most important person in this entire situation is going to be the next president. At this point, it is safe to say that one of the following three candidates is going to take over in 2009: Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, or John McCain. Of course, each one of these candidates has a different idea on how the health insurance crisis should be fixed.
If Clinton wins the White House, there is a very good chance that the United States is going to be moving in the direction of universal healthcare. On the other side of things, McCain, a Republican, is more interested in offering tax credits to families and individuals. He feels that this system is above and beyond anything that the Democrats are talking about.
No matter what, the number of uninsured Americans cannot continue to increase. If the next president does not address this issue in a timely and efficient manner, things are only going to get worse. Luckily, all three candidates have talked extensively about this issue and are compiling data and information for coming up with the best solution.
It is the hopes of millions of Americans that the health insurance situation is on its way to being repaired by 2009.
