Breaking Down the Health Insurance Crisis
If you are not 100 percent satisfied with your health insurance policy, it may have something to do with the recent downturn in the industry. Not only is the health insurance industry struggling, but the same holds true with health care. Many problems have come up over the past five years, and it seems as if they are only getting worse. At this point, the only hope for Americans is that the new president will be able to implement changes sooner enough.
The main issue with health insurance at this point is that there are more than 47 million Americans who do not have coverage. This may not sound like a big deal, especially to those who do have coverage, but in the long run this negatively affects the industry and the country in more ways than one. For instance, those without health insurance still need to receive care from time to time. When this happens, they cannot pay their bills which in turn puts an added burden on the health care industry. In the long run this results in increased health care costs.
Another huge problem is the overall cost of a health insurance policy. There are millions who receive free coverage through an employer, but this is not as common as it once was. If you are forced to purchase your own policy, you are well aware that you can spend several hundred dollars per month, and still not receive the best coverage. Luckily, there are some states, such as Florida, that are working on proposals that will lower the cost of health insurance, or at the very least make coverage more affordable for those who are uninsured.
If you are struggling obtaining or paying for health insurance, you are not alone. This is a serious crisis, but luckily, one that is being studied extensively. A change to the health insurance landscape is a sure-thing once the new president takes office.
