Down and out: Many Passing on Health Insurance
Are you down on your luck? Have you found yourself out of work for too long? If so, this can have a negative effect on many areas of your life. For instance, you may no longer have the health insurance coverage that you once did. And since you are going through so much stress, now is the time that you really need it. After all, if you find yourself getting sick with no health insurance to back you up, your life is only going to get worse. Who wants to get stuck with thousands of dollars in medical bills?
Not having health insurance is one of the biggest risks that you can take; even more so than passing on a life insurance policy. Some people get away with this, but most get caught up sooner rather than later. Even if you have never been to the doctor a day in your life, you never know when something will change. And if you happen to get seriously sick, you can all but kiss your finances goodbye. When you do not have any health insurance, every bill that you accumulate will be your responsibility. Do you know how much health care costs in today's day and age? If you take a closer look at the numbers it will more than likely scare you into buying a health insurance policy. For example, a simple x-ray or MRI would set you back somewhere in the neighborhood of $1,000; and that is just the test itself. This does not even take into consideration the doctor visits, etc.
No matter how bad your situation has become, you need to find a way to pay for health insurance. This holds true no matter if you can buy a policy through work, or if you have to do so on your own. Either way, you need to scrape up a few bucks each month to get some sort of policy in place. Even if you have a high deductible, at the very least it will cap how much money you can be charged.
Just because you are down on your luck or out of a job does not mean that you should pass on health insurance coverage. In fact, this is when you need it the most. Remember, combining your problems with high medical bills is not going to do you any favors.
