Hold Onto your Health Insurance

The health insurance landscape in the United States is rocky; and this is putting things nicely. At this time there are more than 47 million Americans without health insurance, and this number is growing day by day. If you have a health insurance policy you will want to hold onto it with all your strength. This holds true no matter if you buy your own health insurance, or if you receive coverage through a group policy. Simply put, if you give up your health insurance coverage you may find it difficult obtaining a new policy soon enough.

Is it always easy to hold onto your health insurance? Of course not. There are many details that can make this difficult. For instance if you are on group health insurance you know that your employer can do away with this if they feel like it. What do you have to say about it? In most cases, not much. So while you may be trying to hold on, there is a chance that it will not do you any good.

If you buy your own health insurance you have more control, but this does not mean that you are in the clear at all times. Buying an individual health insurance policy can be expensive. Do you have the money to pay for this each month? If so, you can continue to pay your premium so that you always have coverage. If not, and you miss one payment, there is a very good chance that your health insurance policy will be cancelled.

You should hold onto your health insurance no matter what it takes. If you lose coverage for any reason, such as your group policy being cancelled, make sure that you have a back up plan in place. You should never go one day without the proper health insurance in place.
