Life Insurance Agents: The People Behind Life Insurance
The benefits of having a life insurance came from "life heroes' called life insurance agents. They are like heroes which save your dependents in the future from having miserable lives in the event of your death. They assist you from introducing the benefits of life insurance, selecting a good insurance company, computing the amount you have to pay, until the moment that your beneficiaries will claim your insurance.
Under the big umbrella job, insurance agents, the main job description of this work is to help clients in choosing the appropriate policy for them. Life insurance agents focus on selling life insurances to individuals. Other kinds of insurance agents are those selling health insurance, car insurance or disability insurance.
The work of life insurance agents doesn't stop on their relationship with the client, explaining everything they need to know about life insurance. Some are required to seek for new clients. Some companies require them to maintain or reach a certain goal pertaining to the number of new clients they have, number of clients they have helped in the day or in a month and the amount of insurance they were able to sell.
There are two classifications of life insurance agents. First, if a life insurance agents are working for one insurance company, then they are called "Captive Agents'. But if the life insurance agent is working for several insurance companies, then they are called independent agents or brokers. Now that, outsourcing has become a norm in the world economy, thus, call centers are now rampant, some insurance companies turned into outsourcing some jobs of insurance agents to call centers. For example, in call centers, there is a position called, customer service representatives. Some insurance companies hire customer service representatives from call centers to provide general information and answer questions of clients regarding life insurance.
However, there are some qualifications if one wants to work as a life insurance agent. First and foremost, most insurance companies prefer graduates of business courses. But, if someone is aspiring to be life insurance agent but do not have a business-related course, he/she can still be qualified as long as the aspiring agent has an experience in sales and marketing. Knowledge in computers is also a must because this will be the life insurance agent's primary tool in the job. License is also a must for life insurance agents. License will be given to those who have passed the licensure examination on insurance and completed some courses required which tackles basic information on insurances. The license should come from the state on which they work.
Earnings from being a life insurance agent is also very competitive. Some agents earn commissions aside fro the basic salary they receive from the company. Therefore, sales and marketing skills plus knowledge on the basics of life insurance will help the agent a lot if he/she wants a higher pay.
