Are you fighting your Health Insurance Company?
Even if you pay your health insurance premium on time every month, it does not mean that you will always see eye to eye with your insurer. The fact of the matter is that thousands of people get into fights with their health insurance company every year. If you have never done this before, there is a good chance that this will change in the year to come. The bottom line is that not only do health insurance companies make mistakes, but they can also be deceptive at times. Of course, these are both things that will infuriate you because it can cost you time and money in the long run.
What are some of the more common reasons that people fight with their health insurance company? First and foremost, if you do not receive coverage for something that should be paid for, you are surely going to become infuriated. After all, you purchase health insurance for a reason. If you are supposed to be covered for a certain visit or procedure, you expect this to be the case. When this does not happen, getting into a heated discussion is quite possible.
Another common point of argument is when your insurer does not want to cover certain procedures or medications. This is very common among patients who need experimental drugs for illnesses such as cancer. Some health insurance companies will not pay for this no matter what you say or do. Your only option at this point is to have your doctor petition your insurer to provide you with coverage. With some health insurance companies this will work, but others do not care. When they say no to covering an experimental drug they mean it. While this can be difficult to deal with, if that is their rule it can often times be impossible to get them to change for you.
It is not uncommon to have an argument with your health insurance company from time to time. When doing this, make sure that you keep your cool and explain exactly what is going on. If you are lucky there may be a logical explanation for the issue at hand.
